Do you want to get rid of cold drafts, moisture, or ice dams? Want to better control the temperature inside your home, improve your indoor environment, or insulate against noise? Are your heating and cooling energy bills higher than you expected? Do you just feel like energy and comfort are being wasted, but you don't know what to do about it?
A Mass Save Home Energy Assessment (HEA) can help. And more good news: it's no-cost because, as a National Grid or Eversource customer you have already paid for this program in your utility bill! If you have not had your home assessed in the last two years, you are eligible. It may be time to improve your insulation, or check out technologies like smart thermostats, and incentives for retrofits may have changed!
Rebates! It will also qualify you for incentives including air-sealing; rebates of up to $25,000 on qualifying energy-efficient equipment upgrades; no-cost LED light bulbs; showerheads and power strips; and a 0% loan program for financing HVAC and energy efficiency measures. Best of all, the cost of approved insulation and other weatherization will be 75% covered by Mass Save.
If you did have an assessment in the last two years but didn’t act on a Mass Save insulation recommendation, you can still qualify for the 75% incentive! Check with the company who did that assessment to check if you qualify, and if you do, the incentive will be applied to the existing assessment.

How does a virtual assessment work? A Virtual Assessment will be conducted over the phone for up to an hour. Prior to the call (or during if necessary) you will need to take photos of areas of your home that could be eligible for energy-efficient upgrades. If you cannot take the photos ahead of time, there will be other options at the time of the assessment. If opportunities are found to weatherize or insulate your home at no cost, a follow-up appointment will be scheduled with an installation specialist.
Deep Dive
Why is it no-cost to me? As a National Grid or Eversource customer, you have already been paying into this program through your utility bill, so it’s worthwhile to take advantage of it. Thanks to the Green Communities Act of 2008, Massachusetts utilities and energy efficiency service providers that sponsor Mass Save are required by the state to provide energy efficiency programs.

Energy-saving products recommended during your assessment delivered to your door at no cost, and for you to install, such as:

I had one of these a while ago. Can I have one again? If you have not had your home assessed in the last two years, you can have it done again. It may be time to improve your insulation, or check out technologies like smart thermostats, and the incentives for retrofits may have changed as well.
