Sustainable Milton is a completely volunteer-driven organization. We have big objectives for the coming year, but we need your participation to make them a reality! More than anything, we need your time, expertise, and enthusiasm.
We welcome participation at every level: from leading an initiative to just showing up at an event. Below are examples of things you can do and skills that are needed. If you’re interested in following up on any of these opportunities, or have your own ideas, please fill out our volunteer interest form and contact us at: info@sustainablemilton.org .

Our goals
Our objectives for the upcoming year include:
- Support the work of the Climate Action Planning committee to develop and implement a climate resiliency and action plan for the Town of Milton so that Milton is doing its part to combat climate change and maintain stability and sustainable prosperity for our community.
- Launch a municipal composting program; reduce greenhouse gas emissions cut town solid waste disposal costs, and generate healthy soils for our garden town
- Inspire 2000 Milton households to take concrete action to combat climate change through solar panels
- Promote awareness of pressing environmental issues among town residents by partnering with our schools on curriculum and by involving students of all ages in our activities.
- Host a town-wide Green Fair the weekend of May 4th, 2024 from 10AM - 4PM
- Facilitate the creation of Green Teams in each of the Milton Public Schools to raise awareness and educate students about what happens to their waste and what choices they can make to get to Zero Waste. (not sure if this is the best place for this topic).
- Reduce waste, litter, and the resulting environmental harms through a coordinated town strategy including regular green up days, public recycling and composting receptacles, and stricter rules on single-use plastics, plastic bags, styrofoam, etc.
- Advocate for full-time sustainability staff support in Milton’s town government
