I wouldn’t have called myself an environmentalist five years ago, but since the 2018 IPCC report I’ve felt deeply concerned about climate change. I spent a significant amount of time next few years years trying to figure out what I should be doing about it. It’s such a complicated situation and so hard to know where to begin. Over time, I converged on a short-list of impactful, concrete actions that are accessible to individuals and that I feel prepared to advocate for. I joined Sustainable Milton last year because I felt the need for community around these actions: people who are interested in doing these things need to know who they can talk to for advice. It is so meaningful to know that my community is taking action to combat climate change, and I’m not doing this by myself.
